Letychiv (Polish: Latyczow) is an urban-type village, the center of the Letychiv district in the east Khmelnytskyi region. The village is located at the confluence of the Vovk river with the South Bug.

The first castle in Letychev was wooden, built in 1362 by Lithuanian feudal lords who at that time owned the Bolochiv land, and in 1434 it passed to Poland.
In the 15th and 16th centuries, the Crimean Tatars and Turks burned down the wooden castle many times. Therefore, in 1579, Jan Pototsky began rebuilding the castle into a stone fortress. Thanks to the Vovk River, which flooded the moat around the castle, it became one of the best fortresses in Podillia.

Letychiv Dominican Monastery. There is an icon of the Virgin of Letychiv (Queen of Podillia and Volhynia) – one of the best copies of the Salus populi Romani icon. The date of execution of the copy has not been definitively determined, but everything points to the beginning of the 16th century. The author, who masterfully painted it with oil paints, remains unknown.

Also, Letychiv was one of the centers of the uprising led by the Ukrainian national hero Karmalyuk.
