Vytachiv is a wonderful village located in Obukhiv district of Kyiv region. This picturesque place attracts attention with its breathtaking views and unsurpassed nature. A special feature of Vytachevo is its proximity to the Dnipro, the largest river in Ukraine.

One of the most impressive architectural objects of the village is the Dniprovska Krucha, which is located next to Vytachev. These cliffs impress with their rapidity and grandiose appearance. They drop down to the very water of the Dnipro, creating a fascinating panorama. The landscape of Vytachev reflects the combination of impregnable rocks with green vegetation, which adds uniqueness to this place.

Here, a burial ground and a hillfort from the time of Kyivan Rus, which scientists associate with the historical city of Vytachev, were investigated. It is mentioned as a large port on the Dnieper in the writings of the Byzantine emperor Konstantin Bagryanorodny, who lived in the middle of the 10th century.

In 1095, during the attack of the Polovtsian hordes on Guryev (modern Bila Tserkva), the city was burned, and many people fled to Kyiv. Svyatopolk ordered the destruction of the city on Vytachev Hill and renamed it Svyatopolch-grad. He also invited Bishop Murik from Guryev and priests to settle there with other immigrants. Guryev, in turn, was captured by the Polovtsy.
Temporarily, Bishop Yuryivskyi Muryk was in Svyatopolch-grad together with his chair. He remained there until 1103, until Svyatopolk restored Guryev, building a new city.

The city continued to exist on the Vytachiv hill and was mentioned again in the annals in 1223. In this year, after the battle with the Horde on the Kaltsi River, when the Russian princes were defeated and began to retreat to Kyiv, Tatar hordes chased Rusychs to Svyatopolch. The inhabitants of the city came out to meet the troops, and all were killed by the Tatars.

Traces of old shafts have been preserved in Vytachev. Part of the old settlement has already moved to the Dnipro, and part of it has been built up with houses. Only the memorial stone reminds contemporaries of the historic city that once existed on the Dnieper steeps.

Vytachyv is not only stunning scenery, but also a great place to relax in nature and study history. This village provides an excellent opportunity to forget about the city noise and enjoy the peace and beauty of the Ukrainian landscape.
