Our impressions of the ALI BABA PALACE hotel in Hurghada.
We arrived at the hotel very early, filled out the questionnaire, asked to come later, changed clothes and went to the sea. After the second approach to find out if they could accommodate us, we were refused, but they put on bracelets and we had time to have breakfast, although they shouldn’t have done it.
When we swam with the child in the pool, the pool near the main building was heated, but it was cold to get out of it, the wind was blowing, we went to ask for at least cards for towels, went to the meeting, assigned a certain number and issued cards for towels, loyalty is simply at its height. Since it was time for lunch, and the room assigned to us on the towel cards was still not ready, we were offered another one, we agreed and we were not mistaken.
Room in a hotel.
We never look at the room upon check-in, we do not pay extra. The room was good, it was located in the middle, between the main building and the sea, the advantage of the room was that it was not perpendicular to the sea, but parallel, and from our room you could see the sea, to which a beautiful path leads, but it is not central and almost no one is near the sea walked
The room had a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, a safe only at check-in for free.
The bed is good, fresh, the pillows are more appropriate than ever, there were warm blankets. The bathroom is the weak point of all hotels, but here everything is clean and working, there is a hairdryer, a sufficient amount of toilet paper, shampoo and gel in dispensers, the only questions were about the shower, which was already tired, but not critical. The room has a large balcony with a table and chairs. Cleaned well, washed the floor, as we regularly applied sand from the beach.
Food.
In Egypt, this is always a debatable topic)) Food on the level, if you don’t row a plate with a mountain of everything offered. They ate well, there was enough of everything, they alternated food so that they did not suffer from monotony. The vegetables are beautiful, cucumbers, tomatoes, grated tasty carrots and beets, olives, cabbage, etc. From meat, there is always beef, chicken (in different variations), there was duck, which surprised me, it was fish, I didn’t expect it, very tasty, mackerel, they took it every day. With the side dishes, everything is also in order, different types of pasta, there were delicious baked potatoes cut into squares, mashed potatoes, French fries, rice (in different variations).
To my surprise, even the pizza was delicious, the child loved it. The soups pleased me, there are always two types, and if you go through the arch from the Italian restaurant to the second restaurant, you can find + two more types of soups there. We always went to Italian, there was always enough space, or if there wasn’t, they cleaned up very quickly and brought new utensils.
A lot of sweets, one of the restaurants always had oriental sweets, the fruits were very tasty, sweet little melons, dates, apples, oranges, and as always cool gray fruit or pink or white, as well as lime (we always drink water with lime). Drinking, as everywhere and always, the only thing is, somehow, you have to ask the waiter for water, and not just pour it yourself. Coffee is not very good, only the addition of milk and sugar saved it, tea is a scarce choice. There is red wine, white wine, not much, like all alcohol in Egypt. In other words, the diet is absolutely normal.
Territory.
Huge, in my opinion, too much, especially if you take into account the possibility of visiting the nearby Aladdin and Jasmine hotels, and even if you take Ali Baba, there is somewhere to walk. Beautiful paths, a lot of greenery, everything is well-kept and beautiful. The beautiful shape of the main pool, which is huge and stretches across practically the entire territory. For those who like to take a walk, that’s it.
Aquapark.
This is a mandatory condition when you travel with a child and in the spring. The advantage of this water park is the heating of the children’s area and all the slides, the only thing that was missing was a pool without slides that you could swim in to warm up, such a pool could be a pool with a wave, but this hotel unfortunately did not have one.
The slides for adults are good, we went with our 8-year-old child on all of them. The children’s area is very cool: slides, fountains, all kinds of ladders, etc., it is not deep, it was possible to let the child go on his own without any problems.
What else I liked was the large area and a lot of space under the canopies, there is a bar where you can drink coffee or beer. They offer soft drinks and chips. I really liked the water park, the working hours are good.
Beach.
You can visit 3 beaches, Ali Baba, Aladdin, Jasmine. We always went to Jasmine beach, it’s something, a sandy beach and a sandy sunset in the water, the depth is smooth. For children it is a find. Sunbeds, umbrellas, an employee carries mattresses. We went to the very end, silence and peace, we really liked it.
Animation.
They did not participate this time. But there was aqua aerobics, gymnastics, volleyball, DARS, bocce, mini disco. There is a children’s room above the registration, the child went a couple of times, made pizza, drew.
The hotel also has a bowling alley, a real skating rink and billiards, although it costs extra, but it’s still cool.
An ATM for currency exchange is located in the lobby as you go to the toilets, near all the information stands. We talked about how to exchange currency at ATMs in a separate article.
We recommend the hotel!
Well, not much information does not apply to the hotel. Do not be afraid and do not get carried away by the scary stories of representatives, your tour operator. You have the right not to come to the meeting and not to buy anything and not to show passports or insurance. No one will leave you at the hotel.
Personally, we do not go to the tour operator’s meetings, we were always picked up, even woken up and ordered dry rations for the morning (we left early in the morning). So draw conclusions. Of course, it doesn’t work as if you decided to buy excursions from a tour operator, not from locals, or from our link.
At the airport, a visa costs 25 dollars. USA and no more, you can buy it yourself, after going to the hall in front of the passport control, you immediately go not to the queue with a table, but to the right where the representatives of the banks are and there you buy a visa for 25 dollars. USA for one passport. Then take, if you were not given a questionnaire on the plane, and fill in your data, hotel, etc. and immediately pass, bypassing the queue of fraudsters at passport control.
Not far from the hotel is the large shopping center Senzomol, which can be reached on foot in 15 minutes. There is a nice grocery store called Spinos, as well as well-known brands such as Teranova, Adidas, Mango, Vaisiki, etc.
There is relatively close to the hotel Grand Aquarium Hurghada 5 km. Minibus 5 pounds per person, taxi 1-2 dollars. USA one-way, you can buy a ticket on the website with a discount and walk normally without crowds, as we did when we came when we wanted and when we wanted to go back.
It is very easy to go to the city of Hurghada on your own, the minibus stops near the hotel and costs 5 pounds per person, you can go to the port (Marina), go to the mosque there, go to the bazaar on the central street, etc. It is difficult to go back, as only an experienced person can find a minibus in the opposite direction, if you can’t, then a taxi at each step costs 5 dollars. USA and you are in the hotel. We drove everywhere ourselves and paid in pounds, it was 3 times cheaper.
