Luxor is famous for its archaeological sites, among which the Luxor Temple dominates, which is one of the largest and most famous temples of Ancient Egypt.
Luxor is a popular tourist destination where tourists can visit not only the Luxor Temple, but also other archaeological sites such as the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens located near the city.

Luxor Temple was founded by Pharaoh Amunhotep III around 1390 BC as a sanctuary for the god Amun-Ra, but was greatly expanded and completed by his successor Pharaoh Ramses II around 1250 BC. The temple was decorated with reliefs, statues and columns, impressive with their beauty and luxury. It contains many halls and holy places, such as the hall of the pharaohs and the holy vestibule.

The Luxor Temple is an important tourist attraction and a national treasure of Egypt. It was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.

The city is also known as the site of various festivals and celebrations, in particular, the Hapi Festival, which is celebrated annually in autumn according to the calendar of the Egyptian civilization.
